Few - if any - professional editors will expect you to know the entire contents of the AP Style book.

Instead, it is important to know some common areas.

In class, I will allow you to use your style book for many quizzes. Several quizzes, announced as surprises, will be without the style book.  You will be expected to know the following for these quizzes:
